Heels - Urbanog - Skirt - Ebay - Necklace - H&M - Shirt - old

I'm so happy to have 4 days off from work! I have so much planned.  Today I'm going to westfields to watch a film with my bf, tomorrow I have a long drive to Lincolnshire and Sunday I'm going clubbing.

What I'm also happy about is that the time is changing on Sunday which means I can take more pictures outside, right now when I get home from work it's always dark.

I wore this outfit yesterday to work, these shoes are super comfortable because of the low heel and the strap makes them secure, but because there so bright they seem to brighten up every outfit.  This shirt is a couple years old, its so old I have even forgotten were I bought it from, so I call it vintage hahha

I also dyed my hair the other day, I have gone dark, as much as I liked the lighter hair colour I wanted something different, I love the new colour, it's chocolate brown.

I hope you guys are having a happy good Friday :-)

H&M | LCF IllUSTRATION POP-UP

Last week I was lucky enough to attend the opening of LCF'S Illustration pop-up at H&M's Oxford Circus store in London. Until the 29th the store's 4th floor lounge has been transformed into a pop-up gallery showcasing the work of some of London College of Fashion's most promising BA Fashion Illustration graduates.

Put together by five selected students, the exhibition interprets the latest fashion trends inspired by H&M's current collection. My personal favourites were by illustrator Joseph Larkowski, whose minimal and stylised sketches capture this season's looks in a fun and feminine way whilst focusing around the denim trend. You can see his work here, and if you're in London between now and Sunday make sure you visit the 4th floor to check out the gallery!

Does your hair really define you.......?

Well, it shouldn't but most of us feel that it does. You hair is your best fashion accessory.  Isn't that what all hair stylists say? I believe that your hair and make-up are your best fashion accessories. But as far as our hair defining who we actually are? No. That's simply not true. We are way deeper than that. No one can see who we actually are because our soul is invisible. I think we tend to use fashion, hairstyles and make-up to portray the person we want to be. Well, let me rephrase that. We actually we tend to use fashion, hair and make-up to define a combination of who we want to be and who we actually are? Yes, I think I just hit the nail on the head.

{Taking one last look at my longish hair as I walk out the door to chop it all off. }

I was growing my hair out. But I hated most things about long hair. So why the hell was I growing it out? I am going to be truthful here. I was growing it out because most people have the image in their mind of long hair when they think of fashion & fashion stylists and most people feel that you only cut your hair when you are "old" or only when you have to because of medical reasons. Or at least that's what I feel that people think. I know not everyone thinks the same, but it seems that is the majority. Long hair is sexy. Short hair is one of two things: Cute, or for old people. Why is sexy better than cute people or old people? Think about that for a minute. When I gave it a thought, I said to myself, it isn't. So, I cut my hair.

{Me, before the cut}

{Me, during the cut and my sweet hair stylist Charlene who I actually LOVE spending the day with btw;)}

{My hair might not have been all that long, but I had a lot of it!}

{This is what took the longest. The foils.}
The foils took the longest because my hair was so dark. Charlene then had to tone my hair to soften the foils so they didn't look yellow. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about the foils. I really didn't want to be striped or too blonde. That's why it's important to have a hairstylist you love, trust and can talk to openly. Charlene at Nourish is awesome.

{Meet J.J. He kept me company for the afternoon. He is such a sweet and spry little guy!}

{The finale}
I was really happy with how my new short and chic hair style turned out. I don't miss any part of my longish hair at all. I don't miss the hair falling out in the shower, the mess on the bathroom floor, the dreadfully long drying time. None of it.

Boohoo Prints

So today I'm stuck inside, I was meant to be driving to Lincolnshire but half of the UK is at a standstill because of the snow.  It's meant to be spring already dammit!  So course I'm doing some browsing and making my spring/summer wishlist.  I was browsing Boohoo for a while, Boohoo and Asos were probably my favourite online shops years ago when online shopping was still new and they were the most popular.  I stopped shopping at Boohoo for some reason, maybe because there are so many online shops to pick from nowadays.  But if you have a good look they still have a lot of lovely things.

I love prints and colours a lot, probably more so because of my African upbringing and less because of trends.  Boohoo just wowed me with there array of different prints I just had to make a wishlist.  Like seriously I plan to buy every single item on my wishlist lol

What do you guys think? whats your favourite?

The Search for Higher Ground...........

Before you begin reading this, you should know that I almost didn't post it. I hesitate to tell you about my dreams for the future, because I am afraid of failure. What if I don't accomplish anything I say I want to accomplish? But then, I thought about it a little more. Why not just put it out there? Let people know what my goals and dreams are and maybe they will encourage me which in turn will set me up for success! And if you are indeed reading this, then you should know that I am so grateful for your support. And if I do not accomplish everything I say here exactly the way I explain it, then so what? I know that everything I do will eventually lead me to my dream. There is just something inside of me that won't let me stop trying. Do you have that something inside you too? I bet you do....

In case you haven't noticed, I have taken a little over a week off from blogging to regroup, rethink and figure out what it is that I really want to do in life. I am forty years old now and my true purpose is just beginning to dawn on me. So kids, if you have no idea what it is that you want to do or what your passion is, it's okay. Just as long as you know what you don't like, you will eventually be lead to your purpose.

You may think it sounds corny, but I believe that we all are here for a reason and a purpose and you will not die until your purpose is fulfilled. Sorry to be sounding so deep. This is a fashion blog which is meant to be fun, but it is also meant to be inspiring and we all know that inspiration can take many forms. Today I wish to inspire you to think a little deeper and put all of your faith in something bigger than yourself. Something you can't necessarily touch or feel. Some people may call it God, but I don't want to sound all religious so I'd rather you call it what you want. I don't really call it anything. For me it's just a feeling that I can't describe, but I talk to it and it listens and it guides me.

So here on this very blog, I am going to tell you my dream. I have tried several things, but this is the one that I come back to every time.

I want to bring you a magical place where you can experience a little of the past, present and future. Right now it is small and it is only online. But someday you will be able to walk into it.
It's called The Canny Canary and it is a fashion haven for women who think a little more outside of the box.

Right now, The Canny Canary is carrying some beautiful unique vintage jewelry on it's website. You can visit it by clicking right HERE.

Why vintage jewelry? Because I believe that when you wear something old you are not only wearing something pretty, you are wearing a piece of history. You are actually wearing something that someone else wore when they were living their amazing life and going through their journey. We don't know anything about their journey, but you know that it was unique to them, just as every vintage piece is and will be unique to you.

Welcome to The Magical world of The Canny Canary.

(PRESS PLAY)

You can always count on The Canny Canary for a few unique clothing pieces too. Some of these pieces will be new and some may be used and stated as such, but no matter what they are, they will be clean and pristine and ready-to-wear just for you. Some people may think that having new & used will cause confusion. I say it will draw in that unique customer that I am catering to. The lady who likes to experiment, try new (and old) things, mix and match her wardrobe, cultivate a wardrobe filled with art instead of just clothes.
The Canny Canary is not for everybody. But it is everything for some.

So, that is what I have been up to these days.
Just dreaming and brainstorming about The Canny Canary. Your unique go to boutique of the future that celebrates the past and the present. I truly don't mean for this post to be an advertisement. I am being totally sincere and I just wanted to fill you in with what is filling my head at the moment. I promise I will be back with more of my fashion tips and lovely looks next week! Look for my posts on this blog on Wednesdays. I will guide you over your hump every single week!

Yellow Dress

Dress - Old
Heels - Zara
Clutch - £9 Ebay
Hey beautiful people! London has been blessed with the most beautiful sunny weather which is quite rare for March.  I can't believe I left my house without a jacket today.. ok I brought it and left it in the car, but didn't use it at all!
I opted to wear a dress as sunny as the weather.  I bought this dress last year and have never worn it, it has a low back with a bow, I didn't get clear pictures of the back of it unfortunately.
We went to view two wedding venues today and I'm glad to say after 3 months and 10 venues, we have found the ONE! EEEKKK!! So happy!!

Hints of Neon

Skirt - £22 Missguided - Top - Missguided (old) - Heels - Ebay - Clutch - £3 H&M sale - Earrings H&M

Hey guys, I hope your all well.  If you live in London then I know you are all freezing your arse's off like me! I literally felt like I was going to be blown away any minute!! In saying that I wore this outfit on the weekend before the BIG freeze.

I have recently worn this skirt and top in different outfits on the blog, I wasn't supposed to wear them again so soon but the outfit just came together.  I love the all black with a pop of yellow.  If you're not to comfortable wearing neon or find it too bright but want to try it, working it in to your outfit in small doses like this definitely works well.

I bought these shoes off Ebay for about £25, but cant seem to find the link, sorry!
